RunnerSpace Announces 2022 HOKA Postal Nationals Champions After Record-Breaking Season Campolindo (CA) girls and Plainfield South (IL) boys crowned as champions of the 9th annual two-mile high school team competition
(EUGENE, OR.), November 03, 2022 — RunnerSpace and HOKA ONE ONE®, a division of Deckers Brands (NYSE: DECK), announce the girls of Campolindo XC Club (CA) and the boys of Plainfield South XC Club (IL), as the champions of the 2022 HOKA Postal Nationals Championship.
Since 2014, HOKA Postal Nationals has empowered high school cross-country teams from every state to compete against each other in a timed two-mile race on the track. To receive a ranking, teams average and then submit the time of their top five finishers to a national online leaderboard powered by RunnerSpace. This competition format provides an opportunity for every team in the country with a chance to compete for a national championship on a level playing field.
From August 24 through October 31, the 9th annual HOKA Postal Nationals competition brought thousands of athletes to the track to test their fitness. 818 teams from across the nation raced and uploaded results while also receiving swag, prizes, and more from title sponsor HOKA. In the end, this year’s season saw some of the fastest team times in program history.
At the top of the rankings, the girls of Campolindo (CA) ran a HOKA Postal Nationals #2 all-time team time of 55:33.90 (11:07 average). Only the 2021 champions from Boise XC Club have ever registered a faster time. Two teams from San Diego, Cathedral Catholic and University City, battled for second and third place respectively. This is the first time in program history where all three of the top-3 teams hail from the same state, which potentially sets the stage for future rivalries and matchups to emerge in coming years.
On the boys’ side, the Plainfield South (IL) boys turned in a team time of 46:50.20 (9:23 average) to win the 2022 title. This team time was the fastest team time since 2016 and the 4th fastest all-time. While the state of Illinois has regularly turned in top-5 and top-10 performances on the boys side each year, this is the first time the champion title has been claimed by a team from The Prairie State. The boys from Crater XC in Oregon and Granada in California rounded out the top-3 in this year’s competition.
Coach Jason Crowe from Plainfield South noted, “The team really stepped up this season and did a great job with the HOKA Postal Nationals 2-mile! We are all very proud of them. The timing of our 2-miler is a perfect test of fitness right before we begin our championship post-season here in Illinois. It was also a great confidence builder and we are very grateful to Hoka for putting this on!”
Chuck Woolridge, head coach of the Campolindo XC Club girls’ team had this to say: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in this year’s Hoka Postal Nationals…With high school cross country and track returning to their traditional formats, we have continued to grow our 3200m time trial event as an annual track invitational in the middle of the fall cross country season. This year’s event was a huge success, with 17 teams and 460 athletes from throughout the Bay Area participating.

With many teams still feeling the effects of the impacted 2020 and 2021 seasons, HOKA Postal Nationals has continued to provide an outlet for teams of all levels across the country. This democratized national championship has proven to not only bring mass-participation but also continues to create top times and elite-level performances year after year.
